Department Service - 2016
Dept. Service: Communication - 2016
On a regular basis, I communicate with my supervisors, several faculty members, and academic counselors via e-mail, Skype, iMessage, or phone. To the left are screenshots of the latest string of e-mails from 2016 that I had with the head of the photography department, Doug Barkey, and my supervisor, Effi Karakaidos.
Dept. Service: Meetings - 2016
As an Full Time Faculty Member, I attended all of the required meetings and some of the optional meetings. To the left are screenshots of the different meetings I have attended in 2016 as a faculty member and Course Reviewer. Some of these meetings included the “All Employee Meeting”, where it was noted I was celebrating my 6th year with the company, the “Full Time Faculty Meeting”, the “PH Department Meeting”, the “AiP Online Organizational Changes Meeting”, the “Academic Program Meeting”, and the “Faculty Town Hall Meeting”. The Faculty Town Hall Meeting was particularly interesting; we learned that the Faculty Titling Initiative was put on hold. We discussed how faculty could advance their titles in other ways during the meeting.
Dept. Service: Pinnacle model - 2016
In early September, Dean Cooper sent out an e-mail with two videos for us faculty members to review regarding Pinnacle Assessment of Student Work and Teaching with the new Pinnacle Model, which essentially provided students with a simulated “real world” work experience. Following those videos, another meeting on the topic of “Pinnacle” was held in September, which I attended and participated in. To the left are a few screenshots from Dr. Doug Barkey’s videos and the Pinnacle Theory meeting.
Dept. Service: Course Reviewer & content alerts - 2016
I was asked to be a “Course Reviewer” for the upcoming Pinnacle version of “PHOA113: Lighting I”. This is a course I am very familiar with as I’ve been teaching since my start at AIPOD in 2012. I also submitted a few “Content Alerts” throughout the 2016 school year for various courses. When “PHOA209: Portfolio I” was switched from a 5.5 week course to an 11 week course, the final assignment was “locked” and did not have a discussion thread for students to submit their work. By submitting a content alert, I was able to unlock the final assignment.
Dept. Service: AIPOD’s New Website Design - 2016
In August of 2016, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division released a new website design, which looks great! Faculty Members were asked to take the time to review the introduction video to the new site. I completed this task in reviewing the site and offer some suggestions regarding how students may more easily navigate the site.
Dept. Service: Portfolio review - 2016
Upon being hired as a Senior Full Time Faculty Member, I have participated in multiple BS, AA and Certificate Portfolio Assessments within our Photography Department. We have accessed the portfolios in different ways in order to review them: via Sharepoint or Teamwork.edmc.edu. Scores are usually based off of the following criteria seen to the left.
Dept. Service: conference & workshops - 2016
I attended a few of the meetings within the “Faculty Conference” that took place in the Spring of 2016. Given the upcoming switch to “Pinnacle”, I was particularly interested in Doug Barkey’s lecture on the project.
